During racing or sport driving conditions the engine will shift violently, causing the radiator hoses to collapse and crush. The extreme heat of the coolant and engine bay also reduce the strength of the hoses. When the hose(s) collapse, the coolant flow is disrupted and air pockets are formed, resulting in overheating.
Spoon uses SEP (silicone ethylene propylene) rubber hoses that are stronger and more heat resistant to avoid these problems. Stock hoses maintain their rigidity up to 120C; Spoon SEP is rigid up to 160C.
