The S2000 engine, for the most part, is the high-revving, per-liter monster it was designed to be. Having said that, it wasn't engineered without some shortcomings. Through the years, owners have faced the real challenge of remediating oil blow-by issues in various applications, specifically for track enthusiasts and boosted setups.
It is known that the S2000 engine suffers from blow-by gasses during extended right hand corners. These issues are compounded for boosted applications that have higher levels of pressure and oil consumption. The valve cover's baffle traps this oil and it is vacuumed back through the intake manifold via the PCV.
The solution, then, is to place a line from the PCV to an oil catch can to collect the blow-by gasses. Our design sends the PCV (after drilling out the valve) and front valve port to our internally-baffled can. Our design is an open loop system that vents to the atmosphere, thus, not requiring vacuum. We have found that this design strikes the best balance between performance and oil consumption during high duress usage.
What makes this product different from other offerings?
It starts by using quality materials and skilled fabricators. We begin with 6061 aluminum which is then laser cut to ensure precise fitment. Each oil catch can uses high-quality anodized fittings. Our bungs are welded from the inside, leaving a very clean minimalist look.
We were extremely specific in how we wanted the visual proportions to appear in the engine bay, down to ensuring the location of the can and how the position of the tubes would route. In addition, the welds on our products are exceptionally crafted. This not only ensures the unit is appeasing to the eye, but that the welds will stand the test of time. Each oil catch can receives a light hand-polish prior to being carefully packaged to arrive at your door.
What all comes with it?
Each kit includes a Renegade Motorsports oil catch can, braided PCV hoses (2), spring clamps (4), O-ring, and OEM intake plug.
Do I have to modify anything on my car?
The Renegade oil catch cans were designed to reuse the OEM factory bolt on the driver side engine bay wall. As a result, 99-05 model years will require the removal or relocation of the cruise control unit, and the addition of an 06+ coolant reservoir bracket. The install should take ~30-90 minutes depending on model year, and requires only pliers, a 10mm socket, and a drill (for the PCV).
